We use essential cookies so this website works securely (for example, so you can log in to a programme). We only use non-essential cookies for optional features such as ‘Remember me’ at login and, if you choose, analytics that help us understand how visitors use the site. This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, how we use them, and how you can manage them.

What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small text file stored on your device when you visit our website. Each cookie is unique to your web browser. It contains anonymous information such as a unique identifier and the website name.

Cookies do not hold readable passwords. In many cases we cannot link cookie data back to you personally unless you log in or register. When you do log in, session and login cookies enable us to recognise you securely.

How we use cookies

Essential cookies are always used where needed so you can use the site securely (including logging in to a programme).

Non-essential cookies (login convenience and analytics) are only used if you choose Accept all on this Cookie Policy page, or if you have previously saved that choice. If you choose Reject non-essential, we use essential cookies only and do not load non-essential analytics on this website.

The cookies we use

We use the following categories of cookie on this website:

  1. Essential first-party session cookies

Strictly necessary secure session cookies so users can log in safely. A session cookie expires when you close your browser. These cookies do not contain personally identifiable information in readable form.

  2. Non-essential login cookies

If you use ‘Remember me’ at login, we store non-essential cookies with your username (email address) and a login token (encrypted user ID) so you can sign in without entering your credentials each time. We do not store your password in a cookie, encrypted or otherwise. You can remove them using Delete Login Cookies in the cookie banner on this page when you are signed in and those cookies are present, or turn off Remember me in My Account (the cookies are cleared on your next sign-in).

  3. Non-essential third-party analytics cookies

Only if you choose Accept all, we use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) and other third-party analytics tools to understand how visitors use the site and to measure visits from email campaigns and public pages. Google Analytics uses pseudonymous cookies on your device; in production we configure IP anonymisation. These are analytics tools, not advertising cookies. For how Google processes data, see Google’s policy here.

All first-party cookies we set use the Secure and HttpOnly flags where applicable, for additional security.

How to manage your cookies

Use the banner at the bottom of this Cookie Policy page:

  • Reject non-essential — essential cookies only; no non-essential analytics on this site.
  • Accept all — essential cookies plus non-essential login (if you use Remember me) and analytics cookies as described above.

Your choice is saved in a cookie for up to one year. You can change it at any time by visiting this page again and selecting a different option.

You can also control cookies in your browser settings. If you block essential session cookies, you can still browse much of the site but you will not be able to log in to a programme. If you block third-party cookies in the browser without using our banner, analytics may still be limited depending on your browser; our on-site preference controls what we load on this website.

Google provides an Analytics opt-out browser add-on here.

How do I manage cookies in my browser?

You can enable or disable cookies in your browser settings. Guidance for popular browsers:
